Beaches of Cinque Terre
Are you eager to organize a trip to 5 Terre? From our Hotel Serena it can be easily done. You just need to reach Sarzana railway station, which is only 5 minutes away by car from our village, Cerri, and catch a train to La Spezia Central Railway Station. From the latter, regional trains to 5 Terre depart regularly. The 5 Terre offer characteristic beaches that are sometimes a bit hidden from the more openly marked tourist itineraries. For example, the main beach in Riomaggiore, which is made of stones and rocks, lies right behind the ferry dock. Past the tunnel outside the raiway station, you’ll descend towards the little pier, carrying on to the left. Another fantastic beach, accessible only via sea, is that of the “Canneto” between the “Castagna Tip” and the “Cavo’s Tip”: it offers a freshwater fall that naturally springs from the hill above. The two small beaches of Manarola are, conversely, highly visible along the road that, going passed the tunnel and the square, descends towards the Marina to then continue through a path along the coast just below the panoramic terrace and the cemetery. The first beach, coinciding with the Marina itself, is made of rocks, whereas the second one lies at the end of the panoramic trail with immediate access to the sea. As for Corniglia, you can go down to the “Spiaggione” beach, the long and stony beach characterized by a deep floor or, using the shuttle service included in your “Cinque Terre Train Card” and in your “Cinque Terre Trekking Card”, you can reach the village at the top and, from the “buses square”, you may also enter the village and take the path and the staircase leading to the magnificent “Marina” of Corniglia, a natural inlet with a stony and rocky beach. Vernazza offers two gorgeous beaches: the first one, which is a sandy beach, coincides with the Marina itself, whereas the second one, located right behind “Santa Margherita Church”, is a lovely rocky spot. In “Monterosso al Mare” you will find the big sandy beach of “Fegina” along the panoramic path that, starting from the railway station, leads to the village historical centre, and the free beach just below the “Giant” sculpture. Beyond the picturesque “Torre Aurora” you will find several free sandy beaches, the last free one just under the blue path leading to Vernazza.
